Detroit Lions at New York Giants: 5 Things to Watch For
By Erik Lambert
Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers
Last week was different for both teams. Detroit won and New York loss. If one were seeking a parallel between the two, they’d quickly find that one of the determining factors was the turnovers. The Lions defense feasted on Carson Palmer, picking him off three times. Those plays helped them break the game open to an eventual 35-23 runaway. Conversely the Giants failed to intercept Dak Prescott or force a fumble while Eli Manning threw one of his own.
That’s a surefire way to lose games in the NFL. Nothing creates a turning point like giving the opponent extra chances to score. Both Manning and Stafford have been guilty of this in the past. It will come down to which of them is less careless against some underrated secondaries. Glover Quin and Landon Collins are no doubt itching to make that big play. Smart money says the less trustworthy offense will be hosting the game.
