The Chicago Bears already look like a team rocked back on their heels and it’s not even the second week of the NFL season yet.

After losing to the Atlanta Falcons in heartbreaking fashion, they were hit with two devastating pieces of news in the losses of Kevin White and Jerrell Freeman. It was another cold reminder of how cursed this roster feels when it comes to staying healthy. At the same time it doesn’t feel like a team that’s ready for a postseason run either. There are still some areas of the roster lacking the talent and depth to bring everything together.

Most believe they have a chance to do that when the 2018 draft rolls around. How could they approach it?

1st Round

1. player. 57. Before people lose their minds over the fact the Bears didn’t address their most obvious needs, it’s important to remember something. Ryan Pace has operated by the same methodology for three years. He’s going after the best player on the board regardless of position. The Bears weren’t hurting for a wide receiver in 2015, a pass rusher in 2016 or a quarterback in 2017. Sure the benefit of hindsight says otherwise, but this was the case at the time.
Pace goes after players he feels can be difference-makers, regardless of position. Safety is anything but set for them at this point. Eddie Jackson looks like a quality find but Quintin Demps? Not so much. Plus he’s 32. How fitting would it be to reunite Jackson with his old teammate Minkah Fitzpatrick, another Alabama safety with that unique combination of safety size and corner speed/instincts.
. S. Alabama.
