2017 NFL season: Top 10 week 1 rookie performances
7. Kenny Golladay, WR, Detroit Lions
I think it’s safe to say at this point that the Detroit Lions were right about Kenny Golladay on draft weekend this past Spring, and pretty much everyone else was wrong.
He’s been doing this kind of thing since he stepped onto an NFL practice field:
Golladay has an impressive catch radius, and with the talents of Matthew Stafford at the quarterback position, the Lions have a deadly combination on their hands.
This is a young receiver capable of being a nightmare in the red zone for opposing defenses, but he’s also capable at 6-foot-4 of creating separation deep downfield with that extra gear he has.
For the Lions, this is a very encouraging debut, even though Golladay only hauled in four of his seven targets. He has a chance to really be a special player for Detroit, and should be scoring touchdowns fairly regularly.
