The Gardner-Webb defense is a vastly different group from the Iowa Hawkeyes on the road at Kinnick Stadium, but we saw some much needed improvements from Josh Allen in his second game of the season.

Here are a couple of plays that I liked:

The expectations on Allen going into this season were probably pretty unfairly high. He’s obviously got a ton of arm talent and athleticism, but there are definite areas he needs to improve.

Still, Allen has a high ceiling and he showed us why in this game.

He can get out on the move and make tough throws, but he can also drop dimes downfield. He made some really bad decisions in the Iowa game and was on the ‘down’ list last week, but I think he was good enough in an easier week two matchup to get some positive publicity here.
