5. Eric Berry injured

The Chiefs’ defensive MVP and star safety Eric Berry was carted off the field with what appeared to be a very serious injury.

Speculating on injuries is very tough to do from afar, but many watching the game feared that Berry suffered an Achilles injury with five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

Prior to the injury, Berry had been showing why he’s one of the most valuable defensive players in the NFL, blanketing Rob Gronkowsk in coverage, making plays at the line of scrimmage, and generally flying all over the field.

As many things went well for the Chiefs in this game, this is a trump card over all of it. Losing Berry is not something their defense can sustain.

The Chiefs won the battle against the Patriots, but at a very high cost.
