Denver Broncos 2018 mock draft: Building the trenches
Denver Broncos 2018 mock draft: How will the Denver Broncos fare in 2017? What are they going to do to fortify the trenches? We explore…
The Denver Broncos are not done building in the trenches. After picking strictly defensive players for the first five years as the head decision maker in Denver, John Elway has gone two consecutive years picking on the offensive side of the football. That trend is continuing in this 2018 mock draft for the Broncos with Notre Dame offensive guard Quenton Nelson.
The Broncos are specifically not done building the interior offensive line, and Nelson is a player who would be able to step in right away and start for them.
At 6-foot-6, 329 pounds, this kid is an absolute mauler with some athleticism, who was a Notre Dame team captain and second team All-American in 2016. The Broncos took a big risk on the talent of Paxton Lynch in 2016, and they sort of need to circle back to players who have had some proven success at the collegiate level.
I think with Ron Leary making the switch to right guard, this is a permanent solution for them on the left side moving forward.
