The first midseason Associated Press college football poll has been released

The first of many college football polls has been released with some critical changes to the top ten rankings.

After losing to top-ranked Alabama and losing their starting quarterback Deondre Francois for the season Florida State nearly fell outside the top ten. The result was a devastating drop that could have been more drastic given the Seminoles’ circumstances.

Jimbo Fisher’s team was also the only team in the top-ten to lose in the season’s opening weekend.

Alabama and Ohio State are the lone survivors in the top four this week with reigning champion Clemson and Penn State appearing.

Here are the latest Associated Press college football rankings:

This latest ranking makes this weekend’s Ohio State/Oklahoma game even more crucial in the college football playoff rankings. A loss for either team could mean the end of their playoff hopes down the line.

Stanford/USC will also be critical with USC falling out of the top four after last years Rose Bowl victory. That game will be played at the Coliseum next week in primetime on Fox.
