Watch: Simmie Cobbs makes three highlight reel catches
Simmie Cobb roared back onto the college football scene with three terrific catches in the first half against Ohio State
Facing suspension for conduct detrimental to the team Indiana wide receiver Simmie Cobbs showed up in the first half against Ohio State.
A major contributor to the Hoosiers’ 14-13 halftime lead over the Buckeyes Cobbs made three catches that sent fans into a frenzy.
His contributions are even more impressive considering he missed the entire 2016 season with an injury.
Here’s Cobb’s first catch that sent draft experts crazy.
No, this next play isn’t a replay. He did the exact same thing an hour later in the first half. Cobbs then followed it up with a touchdown on a fade route in the back corner of the end zone.
Cobbs missed all of 2016 with an ankle injury and his status for the Ohio State game was in question after an arrest during the offseason.
The 22-year-old was charged with misdemeanor refusal to identify and resisting law enforcement after refusing to move out of an aisle at a concert in July.
In his last full season for the Hoosiers Cobbs recorded 1,035 receiving yards and four touchdowns. His ability to high-point the football and adjust on the play is unparallel in college football this season.
If healthy and on the straight and narrow off the field Cobbs could be one of the first wide receivers drafted in the 2018 NFL Draft. He’ll have heavy competition with James Washington out of Oklahoma State and Deon Cain from Clemson.
