With only one game left and just a few position battles to iron out, The Steelers front office and coaching staff will look to cut their roster down to 53 names.

There are questions in the secondary and a surplus of skill players, so it won’t be easy to get down to that number.

Both wide receiver and cornerback have been probably the toughest positions for Kevin Colbert and Mike Tomlin to whittle down, so don’t be surprised if they keep more bodies at those two positions than usual.

Pittsburgh’s fringe players both offensively and defensively have gone to war all preseason. Which means expect to see a lot of the names that don’t make this roster to wind up on another NFL depth chart.

Terrell Watson, Mike Hilton and Trey Williams have all had really good camps but have to beat out veterans with experience if they want to wear the black and yellow on Sundays.

Anything less than a Super Bowl would be a disappointment for the Steelers and with a lot of talented young players, choosing between potential and immediate production will prove quite a difficult task.

The Steelers have been active in trade rumors and in pursuit of veterans defensive backs like Joe Haden. So expect to see a few new names on the roster in the next week and leading up to the first regular season game.
