Armani Watts (FS – Texas A&M) vs. UCLA

When Texas A&M and UCLA opened the season last year, all eyes were on Bruins left tackle Conor McDermott and Aggies defensive end Myles Garrett. Garrett would win that matchup and the game as Texas A&M pulled out a 31-24 win in overtime.

With McDermott and Garrett now both in the NFL, there are other matchups to watch. The most intriguing however, will once again be when UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen drops back to pass. Specifically watch out for senior free safety Armani Watts as he’ll look to make plays in a secondary that struggled against the pass last season. Without Garrett, Rosen should have more time to throw the ball and challenge the Aggies defensive backs.

Watts is one of the best free safety prospects eligible for the 2018 NFL Draft and Rosen will be the best quarterback he’ll face all year. After Watts missed the final four games last season due to a torn hamstring, his quickness and agility will be closely monitored.
