NFL Honors: Staff predictions for regular season awards
NFL Honors are awarded heading into the final week of the NFL preseason
First on the NFL Honors’ docket is offensive rookie of the year, which stands to have multiple candidates this year with a heavy rookie class. Here’s how the staff voted:
Offensive Rookie of the Year – Christian McCaffrey (4), Leonard Fournette (2), Dalvin Cook/DeShone Kizer/Corey Davis (1)
It’s no surprise McCaffrey came out on top with his ability to threaten in the pass and run game for Carolina. Don’t sleep on Kizer or Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson either.
Rookies on the defensive side of the ball will also bring strong competition. Despite Myles Garrett being drafted number one overall, he received zero votes from our staff.

Defensive Rookie of the Year – Derek Barnett (4), Jordan Willis/Marlon Humphrey/Malik Hooker/Jamal Adams/Haason Reddick (1)
Barnett was the 14th overall selection made by the Philadelphia Eagles this year and has looked very good this preseason.
Coach of the Year can mean many things: the team has gone through an incredible season or some type of personal triumph was accomplished.
Comeback Player of the Year was nearly unanimous with the exception of two voters.
Comeback Player of the Year – J.J. Watt (7), Keenan Allen/Martavis Bryant (1)
Another vote that leaned heavily in one direction was offensive player of the year, but split on the defensive side of the football.
Offensive Player of the Year – Tom Brady (6), Aaron Rodgers (2), Drew Brees (1)
Defensive Player of the Year – Khalil Mack/Aaron Donald (3), J.J. Watt/Joey Bosa/Vic Beasley (1)

Finally, the Most Valuable Player award was given to Tom Brady, making it the third of his career.
Most Valuable Player – Tom Brady (4), Derek Carr (2), Aaron Rodgers/Le’Veon Bell/Marcus Mariota (1)
Brady would join Johnny Unitas, Brett Favre, and Peyton Manning as the only players to hit the MVP trifecta.
