Pat O’Donnell continued his strong preseason

If there’s one man who has annoyed Bears fans over the past couple years to no end it’s punter Pat O’Donnell. He came in with lots of fanfare after the he was selected in the 6th round in 2016. Since then he’s been rather average, finishing in the lower end of most NFL stat categories. Most felt that this should’ve been the year he got serious competition.

Instead the Bears elected to just stick with him. Turns out that may have been the right call. O’Donnell has been consistently good throughout the preseason for Chicago. He’s averaging a healthy 47.4 yards per punt. Eight of the 14 he’s booted also ended up inside the opposing 20-yard line. If Chicago gets that sort of stuff in the regular season, they’re in good shape.
