It was hard to feel entirely good about the Chicago Bears win in their third preseason game against the Tennessee Titans.

Sure they look more than capable against what many consider a sleeper playoff team in 2017. Nonetheless the injury to top receiver Cameron Meredith gave it a bittersweet aftertaste. Sadly the Bears are used to this by now after two-straight years of constant health woes. All they can do is adjust and move forward.

There were still plenty of good things about the game. Of course most will focus on the quarterbacks. Mike Glennon engineered an impressive 96-yard drive for a touchdown. Mitch Trubisky was sharp and delivered a pristine 45-yard TD pass in the second half. The running game kept trucking along too. However, amidst the bigger subjects there were certain things that went unnoticed.

Kevin White played well

The injury to Cameron Meredith was a body blow for the Bears. They were already thin on proven receivers. Losing him magnifies that ten-fold. Now people are forced to wonder whether former 1st round pick Kevin White, with all four of his games in two years worth of experience can step up. Well the good news his progression this preseason has gone steadily up.

The Tennessee game was easily his best yet. He caught two passes for 30 yards. One was an 11-yard bubble screen that showed his run-after-catch ability. The other was a nifty 19-yard strike that saw him make a nice adjustment in his route to pop open. There is still work to do but it’s clear he’s gaining confidence with each passing week.
