Steelers Mid-Preseason Report Card
How have the Steelers rookies and other key cornerstone pieces performed in the preseason?
The undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers have had an exciting preseason so far. There are multiple position battles taking place with rookies and veterans battling it out for a spot on the 53-man roster.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at who has improved their chances and who might be looking for employment elsewhere soon. Starting with the Steeler’s most heralded preseason performer.
Pittsburgh’s first round draft pick should have Steeler fans grinning ear to ear.
Watt’s hype only continues to build, however, as it was announced Watt will be the regular season starter over James Harrison to preserve the 39-year-old linebacker for crucial moments and late-season play.
Watt finished his first preseason game with two sacks and five tackles. The potential was evident and his tenacity and mentality looked to be exactly what Pittsburgh craves in their linebackers.
In the Steelers second preseason game Watt recorded four tackles and one tackle for loss. But he continued to show good edge-rushing technique and even coverage skills.
