The Baltimore Ravens really must be under a lot of pressure from other league circles to avoid Colin Kaepernick. It just doesn’t make sense otherwise.

The team is floundering at the quarterback position. Joe Flacco is hurt. Ryan Mallett is reportedly stinking up practice way too often. They don’t have anybody on the roster with credibility to play if Flacco can’t go. Kaepernick has a history of playoff success. He isn’t even 30-years old, brings loads of athleticism to the table and should be relatively cheap.

What’s the problem? This national anthem issue? It can’t possibly be that bad. Sure it was for awhile but the attention span of football fans fades quickly when they realize the crime wasn’t all that heinous to begin with (it wasn’t). Definitely not in comparison to other guys in the league who somehow have jobs despite being investigated for everything from drug trafficking to beating women and so on.

Sooner or later the Ravens have to come to their senses right? Jeremy Bergman of NFL.com thinks so.

"“The writing was on the wall in Charm City. Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti and coach John Harbaugh publicly spoke about the possibility of signing Kaepernick in July. While Baltimore brought Joe Flacco back slowly from his back injury, Ryan Mallett proved to be an unreliable backup; right around when news of the Ravens’ interest in Kaepernick broke, Mallett reportedly threw five picks in practice and, as Gregg Rosenthal artfully described it, “literally” threw up a white flag. After the Dolphins passed on Kap in favor of Jay Cutler to replace the injured Ryan Tannehill, it was only a matter of time before the Ravens came to their senses.”"

Kaepernick signing feels like just a matter of time

Essentially belief is that if practices won’t convince the team of their situation, the preseason will. A couple games in the signing is bound to happen. Kaepernick, for all the publicity he’ll bring is too valuable an asset to have on the depth chart. Besides the attention can’t stay on him forever. It’s bound to die down once the real games begin. That’s just how the media machine works. All Baltimore would have to do is weather the initial storm.

They did it with Ray Lewis and his alleged crime was much worse. It shouldn’t be this hard.
