Jordan Morgan (5th Round)

Offensive linemen don’t get the headlines. Especially those drafted late. Jordan Morgan was selected as a guard, so already his hill became steeper to climb. He’s battling against two Pro Bowlers in Josh Sitton and Kyle Long for playing time. Suffice to say his odds don’t look good. So being a backup is his best bet at this point. Odds are the Bears won’t risk putting one of their draft picks on the practice squad, so he’s at least safe that way.

To this point there haven’t been any updates or notable plays from Morgan. That, by and large, is a good thing. The more invisible a blocker is, the more likely it is he’s doing his job. Morgan has plenty of chops and could have a long-term future as a starter for the Bears. Sitton after all isn’t getting any younger. Morgan could be his heir apparent if he progresses like the team thinks he can. It’s about hard work and patience.
