The Chicago Bears held their annual Family Fest at Soldier Field. It offered the first serious scrimmage work for their 2017 draft class.

Fans were anxious to see how the group performed on what would become their home turf at least for this year and hopefully years to come. Did some of them falter under even that limited pressure or did they handle themselves well. Here is a quick breakdown of what each one accomplished and how they’ve progressed through camp thus far.

Mitch Trubisky (1st Round)

All in all his first stint at Soldier Field was a steady one. Trubisky didn’t look flustered during his brief 11-on-11 drills. Three of his passes were precise and went for big yardage during his lone drive of the action. Unfortunately one pass was tipped and another fell incomplete and his unit settled for a field goal. Sure it wasn’t a pristine outing but all in all there were no glaring mistakes. That’s a good thing to hear for a rookie.

It also lines up with what’s been happening in the rest of camp. Trubisky isn’t operating at optimal levels yet. He’s still thinking through a lot of plays and can be late through his progressions. That’s normal for somebody with zero experience in a pro-style offense. At the same time he’s delivered some eye-popping plays and kept the ball out of harms way with just one interception thus far. That accuracy he was known for at North Carolina wasn’t talked up. It’s 100% real.
