17. Minnesota Vikings

Florida State. Derwin James . 17. player. 60. Mike Zimmer is a defensive coach at heart, and his bread and butter has always been defensive backs. Harrison Smith remains their ace in the secondary but it’s been wondering about how much better he might be if he had somebody to flank him at safety. Similar to what the Seahawks have enjoyed with Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor. The team is in position to where they can find out.
The 2016 season ended prematurely for Derwin James and that’s a shame. The Florida State safety is yet another fascinating physical specimen produced by that program. He’s got size, speed and athleticism in bunches to go along with good instincts and ball skills. This year will be about proving he can stay healthy. If he’s successful, then the Vikings just got a top 10 talent at a discount.
. S
