Meet the 5 Greatest NFL Players Born on the 4th of July
By Erik Lambert
#3: La’Roi Glover
Players who have great careers despite playing for different teams is a rare commodity in the NFL. Given the complexity of the game it’s just so hard to do. Yet some players are so talented, it doesn’t matter. La’Roi Glover was one of those scarce few. The defensive tackle was discarded after a single season by the Oakland Raiders. A move they probably still regret to this day. Glover really began his ascent with the team that picked him up: the New Orleans Saints.
There he became one of the best interior pass rushers in the league, racking up 50 sacks in just five seasons. A 17-sack year in 2000 helped the team make the playoffs for the first time in eight seasons. They even beat the defending champion Rams in the wild card round. Glover wasn’t done though. From there he went off to Dallas where he made another four Pro Bowls and helped turn them around as well. He never got that coveted ring, but he did get 83.5 sacks.
