#1:  Steven Jackson

Nevada seems to be the state where good running backs are built. Murray is the latest example, but the best one? That would be Steve Jackson. The Vegas native became a star at Oregon State in college and seemed like a shoe-in to go top 10 in the draft. Somehow he fell to 24th with the St. Louis Rams. From there he set about making each of the other 23 teams who passed him up pay for their mistake. In hindsight it most definitely was a mistake.

Jackson became an infinitely reliable back for the Rams. It was impossible to believe their good fortune since Marshall Faulk was just starting to wrap up his Hall of Fame career. Jackson became starter in 2005 and would proceed to post at least 1,000 yards rushing in nine consecutive seasons. This included three trips to the Pro Bowl. He wound up retiring with over 15,000 total yards in his career and 78 touchdowns. Had he played on the Rams during their peak years? Oh my.
