The state of Nevada is known more for its desert and its association with Las Vegas, the greatest gambling city in existence. Not the greatest NFL players.

Nonetheless even the most unlikely territories can give rise to some pretty special athletes. It won’t be a surprise that this particular list is comprised mostly of more recent names. After all the state housed less than 300,000 total people in 1960. That number is close to $2 million to day but the growth took time and really didn’t have a large athletic gene pool to tap from until the 1970s and 1980s. So who currently reign supreme?

#5:  Brandon M. Marshall

His career is still in the early stages but Brandon Marshall has already had a solid impact. Things didn’t start out that way. The former 5th round pick was cut after just one season in Jacksonville and the Denver Broncos took a flier on him to see if he might help their inside linebacker spot. After a year on the bench, he became a starter in 2014 and eventually was one of their mainstay on that 2015 defense. The one that basically carried the team to a Super Bowl title.

Marshall was at his best that year. In addition to making 101 tackles, he also had 1.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception. Last year was a bit disappointing due to injuries but at age 27 he is still ascending as a talent. If good health prevails it’s only a matter of time before people realize how talented he is. After all he’s got a ring and the Broncos prioritized him over the more celebrated Danny Trevathan.
