5. Terence Newman & Xavier Rhodes, Minnesota Vikings

Let’s face it — everyone has an opinion when it comes to the best cornerbacks in the NFL today. And no matter if you had just two people in the room, the list would vary from the top to the bottom.

Here, I’m going to rank the top five cornerback duos in the NFL today, starting with the Minnesota Vikings duo of Terence Newman and Xavier Rhodes. This might seem on the surface like an odd duo to include given the fact that Newman is going to be 39 this season, but the Vikings couldn’t be asking much more out of him or the ever-improving Rhodes right now.

Rhodes was stellar this past season, earning a trip to the Pro Bowl after picking off five passes in his 14 starts.

Newman, despite not having nearly as good of numbers that will attract Pro Bowl votes, was arguably even more effective last year.

That’s not easy to do in your age-38 season, but Newman pulled it off. The wily veteran was once a coveted top five NFL Draft prospect, and he’s proving the longevity of his abilities in his final seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.
