The Carolina Panthers are living dangerously at the defensive end position this year. Not only did they trade away Kony Ealy for practically nothing, they’re relying on two men well into their 30s (Julius Peppers and Charles Johnson) to hold things down at the defensive end spots with limited depth behind them. Injuries are a definite risk with men of their age and the lack of a young upstart behind them is concerning.

Enter Josh Sweat. He along with Demarcus Walker wreaked havoc off the edges for an otherwise underwhelming Florida State defense in 2016. He’s got that desired mix of length and explosion off the edge. He could stand to add some extra weight and power to his frame. The building blocks are definitely there though. Under Ron Rivera’s direction he can be that next big thing in Carolina.
. DE. Florida State. Josh Sweat . 29. player. 87
