NFL Free Agency: Titans solidify offense with Eric Decker
A homecoming for one of the NFL’s best veteran receivers Eric Decker is official
To little surprise, the Tennessee Titans have signed veteran wide receiver Eric Decker to a one-year contract. Tennessee beats out the Baltimore Ravens in the race for the 30-year-old receiver, who was released by the Jets one week ago.
New York originally attempted to trade Decker as part of a late-offseason roster purge that included linebacker David Harris.
Signing with Tennessee was a move many anticipated considering Decker’s wife Jessie James Decker is a country music star.

Decker played just three games for the Jets last year after requiring shoulder and hip surgeries.
Tennessee needed a reliable veteran such as Decker for third-year quarterback Marcus Mariota. The team invested the fifth-overall pick in Western Michigan wide receiver Corey Davis, who is coming off ankle surgery.
Decker and Davis are also joined by one of the Titans free agent acquisitions from last year Rishard Matthews, second-year receiver Tajae Sharpe out of UMass, and rookie Taywan Taylor.
With Tennessee signing Decker, the future of veteran Harry Douglas comes into question with training camp and roster cuts approaching. In the final year of a three-year free agent contract, Douglas is owed $2.48 million by the Titans if he remains on the roster.
The Titans can cut Douglas at a $733,334 price tag, thus saving the team some change as roster moves are made in two months.
Receivers Eric Weems and Tre’ McBride will also be looking over their shoulders in camp with the two rookies and an established veteran such as Decker joining the fold.
