8. Los Angeles Chargers

8. player. 13. The Chargers defense genuinely feels like its on the cusp of something special. The arrivals of Joey Bosa, Jatavis Brown and Casey Heyward last year gave them three genuine playmakers in the space of two months. One or two more moves like that and this unit could ascend to the top of the NFL. One area they really need to shore up before that happens is the safety position, which played a big role in their poor run defense last year.
Yes the Chargers already added two safeties via this past draft but both were mid round picks. Far from guarantees. The beauty of drafting Minkah Fitzpatrick is that he’s capable of playing safety or corner. A genuine athlete with good size who played the run well at Alabama but showcased outstanding ball skills at corner. The transition should be an easy one for him. Then if they need help at corner in a pinch, he’s their guy.
. S. Alabama. Minkah Fitzpatrick
