The 2018 NFL mock draft season never ends and is almost certain to feature many variations on what could possibly happen next April.

As things stand right now though, pretty much everybody is in agreement. The New York Jets are the team to beat in regards to the race for the #1 pick. The sheer number of quality veterans they’ve unloaded over the past few months offers no confidence that they’ll be any sort of credible in 2017, no matter how many positive spins used by their media relations. Beyond them? That’s when it starts to get tricky. Of course everybody knows who the first pick will be.

1. New York Jets

player. 30. Given how many quality veteran players the New York Jets have sent packing over the past couple months, it’s apparent to anybody with common sense that this team is in full-scale rebuild mode. That includes tanking, despite denials from the front office of such ideas. The belief is they want to get the highest pick possible, most likely to secure a top quarterback in what is expected to be a fairly strong 2018 class.
Topping that list is USC standout Sam Darnold. He took college football by storm last year, showcasing a level of skill that has the scouting community buzzing. His performance in the Rose Bowl against Penn State alone with must-see TV. He’s big, strong, poised, accurate and executes in the clutch. Everything a team could want in a franchise quarterback. The Jets have searched for one dating back decades.
. QB. USC.
