#3:  John Riggins

Easily one of the most colorful characters and entertaining players every. John Riggins marched to the beat of a different drum. He somehow combined the love of a partying lifestyle with an insane work ethic. He was a big guy for a running back but much faster than he looked. Nothing about him made sense. At the end of the day people realized they had to accept him for who he was. That being a quirky, powerful and tough running back who got the job done every time.

This despite some serious obstacles in his career. He wasn’t used a lot for large stretches during his time in New York, became an unhappy blocker once he got to Washington and then retired in 1980. Somehow he powered through it all to become a superstar that carried a franchise to their first Super Bowl championship. His 610 yards and four touchdowns in the 1982 playoffs are the stuff of legends and a huge reason he’s in the Hall of Fame.
