New Orleans Saints: Drew Brees
They say one man can’t carry a franchise to greatness. That’s true, but if any man ever came close, it was Drew Brees. The New Orleans Saints were nothing when he arrived in 2006. Then they became contenders almost overnight. His connection with head coach Sean Payton clicked immediately and the two set record books on fire. It’s not a coincidence that the team is 0-2 in the lone two games he’s missed as a Saints quarterback. That’s how much he means to them.
Understand this. From 1967 to 2005, the franchise made the playoffs a total of five times. Since Brees arrived in ’06 to present, they’ve made the playoffs five times and won a Super Bowl. He’s over 66,000 passing yards in his career, which is just stupid numbers. Never mind the 465 touchdown passes, 28 4th quarter comebacks and 10 Pro Bowls. There is nothing left to accomplish. He’s going to be the fifth player in franchise history to reach Canton.
