Fantasy Football: 10 rookies to draft this season
Samaje Perine, RB
Oklahoma’s Samaje Perine was a workhorse who toted the rock 685 times for 4,122 yards and found the end zone a whopping 49 times. Not to mention the glaring six yards per carry. Perine may not be a starter for the Redskins, but is certainly one of their better options out of the backfield.
Rob Kelley enjoyed a successful year for the Skins in replacement of the recurring healthy scratch that is Matt Jones. Kelley averaged 4.2 yards per carry and scored six times, often struggling in the red zone to gain yards, enter Perine and why he can help your fantasy team. Many are beginning to decipher the Redskins’ complicated backfield situation thanks to the comments of Jay Gruden, and the signs point to Perine seeing a significant role.
ESPN.com’s John Keim even goes far enough to predict Rob Kelley would be a complimentary piece to Perine in 2017 with Chris Thompson as the third down back. If this truly is Washington’s plan, then Perine could have upside as an RB2, and at worst a flex play this season if he ends up being the complimentary back.
