NFL: Biggest questions facing the AFC East squads
New York Jets: What are the expectations for the season?
I’m confident Jets head coach Todd Bowles never expected this.
Upon being hired in January 2015, Bowles inherited a veteran-led team with talent and winning pedigree. Although they did not make the playoffs, the team still went 10-6, and with names such as WR Brandon Marshall, CB Darrelle Revis, C Nick Mangold, and LT D’Brickashaw Ferguson, the Jets organization was in good hands.

As you view the roster now, those four veterans are no longer around, neither is former starters QB Ryan Fitzgerald, LB David Harris, S Calvin Pryor, and now even veteran WR Eric Decker appears to be on his way out the door also.
A 5-11 season in 2016 has led to what is now a considerable overhaul and a team that is starting from the bottom.
Going into the 2017 season, expectations should be low and remain there. There are questions as to who is the QB of the future and will he make himself known soon, whether or not the team can get production from aging RB Matt Forte, is that once solid offensive line now unreliable and if the team can field an overall solid cornerback group.
The roster has excellent talent sporadically. A trio of disruptive defensive linemen (Muhammad Wilkerson, Leonard Williams, Sheldon Richardson) is one place to start, and a pair of rookie safeties in Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye provide a powerful one-two punch on the back end.
One thing is for certain for the Jets, if Bowles were to lead this roster to an 8-8 record, it would be considered a miracle.
