Cleveland Browns – 2013

One could arguably say that 2012 to 2014 was the worst stretch of drafting any franchise has ever endured. No seriously. It was that bad for the Cleveland Browns. Both the 2012 and 2014 classes had merit to make the list, but the apex of the horrible came in 2013. Not surprising given it was a bad draft overall but it hit the Brown particularly hard. Having just five picks to start with didn’t help matters but it was compounded by misguided evaluations.

By far the biggest being #6 overall pick Barkevious Mingo. In hindsight it’s easy to ask what they were thinking on that. There’s no denying the former LSU defensive end was a freak athlete but he was also totally unproven as a pass rusher. His stats didn’t back up the physical skill. They took him anyway. He had five sacks as a rookie and then two of the final two seasons. He was a colossal bust, and the rest of the class punctuated it by being well below average.
