Seattle Seahawks – 2013

The draft can be a weird creature at times. One strange phenomenon that can happen more often than people think is a team having a terrible draft the same year they win the Super Bowl. A perfect example of this was the Seattle Seahawks in 2013. Up until that point the franchise had done outstanding work in the draft. From 2010 to 2012, GM John Schneider had drafted no fewer than eight future Pro Bowlers including Earl Thomas, Russell Okung, Richard Sherman, Bobby Wagner and Russell Wilson among others.

What makes it even crazier that the 2013 class was so bad is the Seahawks ended up using 11 total picks. One would think they’d have come away with one solid starter. Not so much. Christine Michael is the most notable of the group. He became somewhat of a running joke given the team cut and re-signed him three times. Other names like Luke Wilson and Tharold Simon contributed but nobody is the class made any significant impact.
