Green Bay Packers – 2001

It seems rather fitting that the worst year the Green Bay Packers have had in the 2000s just so happened to be the year after Hall of Fame GM Ron Wolf retired. The team decided to give personnel decisions over to head coach Mike Sherman, a strategy that can often backfire. Some coaches just can’t handle that level of a workload. Not like Belichick and a few others. That proved to be the case with Sherman who really sabotaged himself from the outset with this dud.

Luckily for him Wolf had done such an outstanding job with the previous few drafts that they covered up how bad it was. Defensive end Jamal Reynolds was the 1st round pick and proved he should’ve been an undrafted free agent instead. He played just 18 NFL games and notched three sacks in his career. Robert Ferguson, Bhawoj Jue and Torrance Mitchell followed. Each of whom did better than him, but then again that wasn’t hard at all. Just a rough group that stunted the teams’ growth.
