NFL free agent Tramaine Brock now faces up to five years in prison

Former San Francisco 49ers starting cornerback Tramaine Brock is facing felony domestic violence and misdemeanor child endangerment charges.

The 28-year-old was officially charged in Santa Clara County, California after his 31-year-old girlfriend alleged he choked and hit her on multiple occasions.

Brock spent seven years with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent but was released after being arrested in April.

Here’s a portion of the Santa Clara District Attorney’s statement regarding the charges being filed against Brock.

"A former professional football player was charged with felony domestic violence this week, accused of punching his girlfriend in the face and attempting to strangle her multiple times, including once as she was holding their 1-year-old child. On April 6, 2017, the 31-year-old victim reported to police that (Tramaine) Brock had assaulted her that day. She told responding officers that during a disagreement over what to watch on television, he had punched her in the face and attempted to strangle her to the point that she later vomited. She also said that five days earlier Brock had attempted to strangle her multiple times, while his friend was in his home."

In the unlikely event Brock signs a new contract with an NFL team, the cornerback will likely face a suspension under the league domestic violence policy.
