Saquon Barkley . 11. player. 54. Philadelphia’s invested heavily in the running back position in recent drafts, but has yet to find a three-down starter. Two years ago they brought in West Virginia’s Wendell Smallwood, and this year special teams star Donnel Pumphrey and undrafted free agent Corey Clement joined the fray.

Add those two with veterans Darren Sproles and LeGarrette Blount, and the Eagles have a dominant backfield.

Beyond 2017 the running back position is still a major question considering Blount is on a one-year deal, and Sproles is expected to retire at seasons end. Unless Clement, Smallwood, or Pumphrey proves to be an every down back, Philadelphia will be in the market,

Bring in Penn State running back Saquon Barkley, who draws comparisons to former Eagle LeSean McCoy. Expected to be one of the top picks in this year’s class, should he declare, Barkley has a unique combination of power, speed, and shiftiness that allows him to avoid defenders with ease.

His abilities as a receiver are also electrifying, and creates a dual-threat back the NFL rarely sees. He’ll be a star in Philadelphia or wherever else he lands in the NFL, be it this year or the next.
. RB. Penn State
