New England Patriots are perfect landing spot for Jeremy Maclin
Jeremy Maclin has been shockingly released from the Kansas City Chiefs. The New England Patriots would be a great landing spot…
In a move to dump some salary cap space, the Kansas City Chiefs shockingly released veteran wide receiver Jeremy Maclin. Maclin was coming off of a down year but it was still an unexpected move for Maclin and the rest of the NFL world…
Now that Maclin has moved on from the ‘#ChiefsKingdom’ it stands to reason he will find a landing spot fairly quickly. In my personal opinion, the best possible landing spot for Maclin would be with the New England Patriots.
The Patriots made a number of interesting moves offensively this offseason, revamping their running back position completely and bringing in Brandin Cooks at wide receiver in exchange for their first round draft pick.
As it is, the Patriots have a dangerous passing game. Heck, they had a dangerous passing game without Rob Gronkowski last year.

Now, Gronk is (presumably) coming back and the Patriots will add Cooks and Dwayne Allen to the mix. They also obviously still have Chris Hogan, Danny Amendola, and arguably the best slot receiver in the NFL right now in Julian Edelman.
As if the aforementioned moves weren’t enough, the Patriots also signed veteran Andrew Hawkins, who provides even more speed from the slot if they want to keep him around.
With that kind of firepower already in the fold, I think the Patriots could benefit even further from adding a player like Jeremy Maclin. Prior to last season, he racked up touchdown totals of seven, 10, and eight in a three-year span.
I think he can still be an effective weapon at the age of 29 and even more so if Tom Brady is throwing him passes. He might not catch but 50 passes if he were to spend this coming season with the Patriots, but they would be much more meaningful with no. 12 on the other end than Alex Smith.
