Jerry Jones would love nothing more than the attention Colin Kaepernick brings from across the NFL

Anyone who’s watched an inkling of NFL football in the past year knows the Dallas Cowboys more than likely have their quarterback of the future.

After believing they missed on Paxton Lynch the Cowboys were far from content with Dak Prescott on draft day. Now they feel their offense is set for the next decade with Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott running the show.

But the situation in Jerry World is cloudy once you look behind Prescott on the quarterback depth chart in Dallas. With the retirement of Tony Romo the Cowboys have Kellen Moore and two undrafted free agents from the 2017 class.

More from NFL Hot Takes

If Prescott were to be injured early in the season the Cowboys go from Super Bowl contender to dead last in the highly competitive NFC East. That’s what happened when Romo went down years prior, and the team relied on Brandon Weeden and math teacher Jon Kitna.

One hit could end any quarterbacks season, but it’s knowing there’s a capable backup ready to come off the bench that keeps a fanbase alive for the next four months that truly matters.

Between the obvious need for a backup quarterback and the attention Jerry Jones loves to have in his billion dollar playpen, it only makes sense for the Dallas Cowboys to sign Colin Kaepernick.

The resume speaks for itself in terms of Kaepernick being a quality quarterback in the NFL. The man hasn’t committed a crime and has proven to be a humanitarian.

Seattle made all the sense in the world to me, and it’s something I suggested long before the two sides met last week.

Far too many teams want nothing to do with Kaepernick, who I may not agree with regarding the national anthem, but do stand by as a person and a professional quarterback.

Dallas needs someone that’s won an NFL game to work behind Prescott, and Kaepernick can be that guy.
