#2: John Fox (Chicago Bears)
It actually was a minor surprise that John Fox wasn’t fired this offseason. To go from 5-11 to 3-13 wasn’t exactly what the Chicago Bears had in mind for 2016. In the end it was felt that an overturning roster and crazy amount of key injuries really limited what the veteran head coach was able to accomplish. So they kept the status quo for another year, giving him another chance to get this young group on the right track. Maybe not popular, but certainly fair.
At the same time this is the all-important third season for Fox. By this point in time a roster really should be taking shape and starting to show signs of progress. That’s not to say the playoffs are expected, but 7-9 or 8-8 is something fans have said they could get on board with. Anything less than that? It will be time for GM Ryan Pace to make a decision. Is a 62-year old head coach really the right man for this team moving forward? Don’t think for a second he’ll blink at making a change.
