#7: Mike McCarthy (Green Bay Packers)
The man won a Super Bowl. Why is he on this list? Simple. Mike McCarthy won that Super Bowl over six years ago. Since then he’s had the best quarterback in the NFL in Aaron Rodgers at his disposal and hasn’t even gotten back to the big game once. Not a single Super Bowl appearance since. Sure there were some issues with the roster at times but a lot of these failures fall at the feet of the head coach. Fans believe McCarthy has underachieved.
That may sound unfair but it’s true. Aaron Rodgers is a superstar and the Packers have had some really good teams in the past few seasons. For one reason or another though, they fall flat. To his credit Green Bay hasn’t missed the playoffs since 2008. That must count for something, but last year was the closest they’ve come in a long time. They started 4-6 before rallying late to get in. If they can’t close the deal again this season, how much longer of a leash does he get?
