24. player. 10. . . Houston Texans. Tom Savage/ Deshaun Watson

If Houston had a capable quarterback last season, they could’ve won the whole thing with the best defense in football, an elite running back, a pro-bowl receiver and other contributors. Savage didn’t get to play in the postseason, as he ceded the starting job to current Browns signal-caller Brock Osweiler due to an injury down the stretch. Watson was picked in the first round of this past draft to presumably get the job done in the future. There will be a competition in camp for the job but don’t expect either to be far above average this year. Watson could be a heck of a player down the line, but expectations should be tempered in Bill O’Brien’s unfriendly system that has seen several quarterbacks in recent years.

player. 16. . . Buffalo Bills. Tyrod Taylor. 23

Tyrod Taylor was beaten down by injuries for the better part of last season. To make matters worse, his star receiver, Sammy Watkins, played less than half of last season due to a lingering foot injury. He played well below one hundred percent most of the time. Behind Watkins, the Bills slotted Robert Woods and Marquise Goodwin at the two and three. Woods was also lost to a knee injury in November. LeSean McCoy was in and out of the lineup due to injuries as well. In other words, Taylor had nobody to throw to, couldn’t use his mobility due to injuries of his own, and had injuries in the backfield, making plenty of handoffs to former backup halfback and current Patriot Mike Gillislee. The Bills have limited depth at receiver now that Robert Woods signed with the Rams this offseason while Goodwin headed to San Francisco. Drafting Zay Jones may not be enough to move the offense if and when Watkins goes down again. Taylor is back to full health but he may be using his legs more, and his arm less should Watkins be sidelined.
