NFL Power Rankings: Quarterbacks Post-NFL Draft
Although Lynch is better suited as the starter considering his tremendous arm strength and the numerous deep threats Denver possesses, Siemian somehow has held onto the job despite uninspiring play and outcry from his underused weapons such as Emmanuel Sanders. The 2015-16 Super Bowl Champions fell off a cliff last season, failing to reach the playoffs under Siemian. However, Vance Joseph has taken over for the ailing Gary Kubiak as head coach, which may give Lynch a chance to win the job. However, assuming Siemian once again wins the job, Denver’s once-formidable aerial attack will once again underwhelm without the deep ball.
Alex Smith hasn’t turned the football over often but hasn’t done nearly enough when he possesses the rock. Kansas City moved up in the first round to take Mahomes, presumably to usurp Smith. Whether or not it’ll be this season is a mystery but the fact that Kansas City’s passing offense has been M.I.A under Smith is not a mystery. Neither of these quarterbacks will jump off the page this year, as Smith won’t exhibit anything new and Mahomes needs to learn. The defense and a Spencer Ware led backfield will have to take over once again this season.
