It’s now or never for Jaguars receivers Marqise Lee and Rashad Greene

Jaguars team president Tom Coughlin knows how to find good receivers in the draft and free agency based on his time with the Giants. Coming into his first season as a Jaguars executive Coughlin has already shaken up the roster and coaching staff.

More moves are anticipated with training camp months away, including a visit from one of Coughlin’s former players.

Victor Cruz, who’s not played a full season since 2012, will be visiting his former coach and the Jaguars later this month regarding a possible reunion. While not the Pro Bowler he was prior to a devastating knee injury, Cruz is still reliable enough to make an NFL roster.

Considering Allen Robinson, Allen Hurns, and rookie Dede Westbrook are each practically guaranteed a role on the 53-man roster, cuts during camp could affect Marqise Lee and Rashad Greene.

Coughlin has no connections to Lee or Greene, who have underperformed since being drafted by the Jaguars. Lee, a second-round pick in 2014, played a career-high 16 games last year recording just three touchdowns. A standout at USC, Lee has just five career receiving touchdowns in the NFL.

Greene, on the other hand, was a fifth-round pick in 2016 that has only 125 career receiving yards.

Either Lee or Greene could be roster casualties once cuts roll around in training camp this summer, especially if a veteran with Cruz’ pedigree comes in healthy.

Lee’s contract can be voided for just over $500,000 while saving the team $1.2 million. Greene would both cost less to cut and result in fewer savings based on his rookie contract.

One of the two could also become trade bait for a late-round draft pick or another player on a team’s roster bubble.
