Defensive tackle:  David Amerson vs. Gareon Conley

Pass defense was the single-most important thing the Raiders had to improve going into 2017. If they want to take a crack at the AFC elite and prove they belong in the conversation, then they need a defense that can stop other great quarterbacks from having their way. A key to that is at the cornerback position. David Amerson had moments of solid play but his inconsistency continue to cause problems. Hence why the team scooped up Gareon Conley in the 1st round.

Winner:  Gareon Conley

Though he still has the rape allegations hanging over his head, belief is strong he’ll be cleared of any wrongdoings. Conley was arguably the most technically-sound corner in the entire draft. Throw in solid speed and athleticism and it’s no wonder some evaluators felt he was the best overall cover man in the entire class. That means he won’t be overwhelmed by the competition and should be able to take down Amerson head-to-head.
