North Carolina. Ryan Switzer. 4. player. 123. . Wide Receiver

There were some higher ranked prospects taken in the early portion of the fourth round, but with the 133rd overall pick, the Dallas Cowboys committed highway robbery by taking North Carolina’s Ryan Switzer.

Switzer was one of my favorite prospects in this year’s draft, and I think any and every team that was looking for help out of the slot was putting him in their mock drafts. This is a player who is refined as a route runner, and plays bigger than his listed size.

When you watch Switzer work running routes, his quickness jumps off the page. He has great feet and is elusive in the open field. After the catch, that foot quickness is again put on display, as Switzer makes it very difficult to catch him after he gets the ball in his hands.

One of the most prolific punt returners in the history of college football, Switzer provides added value on special teams but is not to be discounted for his smaller stature. This guy is going to make big play after big play.

The Cowboys got a safety valve for their offense here in Switzer that I think will provide one of the best values of the draft.
