NFL Draft experts are moving on from a dreadful 2017 quarterback class and getting ready for potential stars in the 2018 NFL Draft

Three teams needing a quarterback reached for a glimmer of hope last Thursday as a quarter of the top 12 picks in the 2017 NFL Draft were quarerbacks. Now looking towards 2018 the class will look incredibly different.

Sam Darnold, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Josh Rosen, Baker Mayfield, J.T. Barrett, Mason Rudolph, and Luke Falk are the big names to watch in 2018. Fans can always expect someone like Carson Wentz or Mitchell Trubisky to come out of nowhere to enhance an already star-studded list.

Now that Chicago, Cleveland, Houston, Kansas City, Buffalo, and the New York Giants appear to have their quarterbacks, who is next in line for drafting a man to place under center?

Writing off the six teams listed above to start, we can also erase a handful of teams who will not be in the quarterback market, such as the Eagles and Cowboys.

The Chargers, Saints, and Cardinals were teams going into the draft looking at young quarterbacks to groom under Hall of Fame worthy starters. They emerged with empty pockets, and are expected to look at 2018 closely.

San Francisco, Minnesota, and the New York Jets will have questions under center as well, so add their names to the list.

You could also add the Lions, Redskins and Ravens to this list, based on their starter’s contract or ages.

Do the Bengals, Jaguars, or Dolphins truly believe their current starter is the best they can have? I doubt it, but this upcoming season will determine a ton of futures in those three franchises.

By looking at the number of teams needing quarterbacks beyond 2017, it would not surprise me to see 12 teams needing a fresh face at quarterback looking towards the 2018 NFL Draft.
