Having five draft picks on day three of the NFL Draft the Philadelphia Eagles will look to give Carson Wentz more weapons

Philadelphia has done a fantastic job hosting the NFL Draft, and the Eagles have nearly matched that effort through their first three draft picks.

All three picks have focused in on defense, starting with pass rusher Derek Barnett from Tennessee, top cornerback Sidney Jones from Washington, and cornerback Rasul Douglas out of West Virginia.

On Saturday the Eagles will likely target a running back to supplement an offense they’ve upgraded heavily this offseason. While missing out on top prospects Dalvin Cook and Joe Mixon in the second round, Philadelphia has options going into day three.

General Manager Howie Roseman confirmed that the Eagles are looking at running backs on Saturday and that there’s a strong class remaining in the final four rounds.

Three names will be linked to the Eagles this afternoon as they prepare to take their first offensive player of the draft. Boise State’s Jeremy McNichols, South Florida’s Marlon Mack, and San Diego State’s Donnel Pumphrey are all on Eagles fans watch list.

McNichols is a downhill, one-cut back who comes out of a running back factory on Boise State’s blue turf. In a run heavy offense he scored 23 touchdowns for the Broncos with his miniature 5’9 frame.

Mack comes out of a small program in South Florida and looks bigger than his 6′ 205 lb frame suggests. With 15 touchdowns for the Bulls Mack is an intriguing late round option with great vision and patience in the backfield.

Pumphrey meanwhile is among the NCAA leaders in career rushing yards with over 6,400 and gets comparisons to Eagles back Darren Sproles. Winning the Mountain West offensive player of the year award in consecutive seasons Pumphrey will be an option for Philadelphia in the sixth round.
