Day 2

2nd Round:  Obi Melifonwu (S, UConn)

As genetic freaks of nature, it doesn’t get much more awe-inspiring than Obi Melifonwu. The guy is built like a safety but runs like a corner. He can probably play either position without any noticeable issues with adjustment. The physical side of the game comes easy. It’s his spotty instinct and awareness on the field that makes this pick a bit of a reach.

Grade:  B+

3rd Round:  Eddie Vanderdoes (DT, UCLA)

A lingering ACL injury caused conditioning problems for Eddie Vanderdoes during his final year at UCLA. Before that he was the classic three-technique interior pass rusher. Exactly what the Raiders need up front to help compliment Khalil Mack. Vanderdoes looked better at the Senior Bowl. Presuming good health and being in shape this is a quality pick.

Grade:  B

4th Round:  David Sharpe (OT, Florida)

The Raiders love their offensive linemen big and strong with a nice dash of athleticism. David Sharpe fits that mold in every way. The problem is that weight, which is 340 lbs, can be a double edged sword. Sharpe doesn’t move with much grace or quickness at times. Perhaps if he slimmed down that would help him. That said he should help their ground game right away.

Grade:  C+
