As we approach the third round, it’s being rumored that the Cowboys are shopping one of their cornerbacks, Orlando Scandrick…

With the 60th pick in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys selected Chidobe Awuzie. He’s an aggressive cornerback out of Colorado with good ball skills. However, he just can’t catch the football. Awuzie only had three career interceptions but had 25 pass deflections.

Shortly after taking the product out of Colorado, the Cowboys are being rumored to be shopping a veteran cornerback. That cornerback is Orlando Scandrick and the rumored asking price is a third-round pick.

Scandrick recently turned 30-years old in February. Over the years, he’s been a productive player for the Cowboys. Since being drafted by them in the 2008 NFL Draft, he’s recored 368 tackles, eight interceptions and 60 pass deflections. Throughout the years, he’s played in the slot and on the outside.

After drafting Awuzie, the expectation is for him to replace him. It would be shocking to see the Cowboys move on from Scandrick from a depth perspective as they’re limited at the position. However, he’s got a huge cap hit of just over $5.2 million.

From a business side of the game, you never want to just release a player so it’s smart for Jerry Jones to shop the veteran player. The early expectation is for the Cowboys to receive a third-round pick but I wouldn’t be surprised if they settle for a fifth or sixth round draft pick. Some teams that could be interested would be the Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills, and Jacksonville Jaguars.
