2017 NFL Draft: After a crazy run on quarterbacks in the top 12 of the first round, where could some of the other big names fall on day two?

Last night, we saw a run of skill players in the top 15 of the draft. That threw off plenty of mock drafts but most importantly, it pushed a lot of defensive talent into the middle of the first round. There was some belief that the Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns were going to pull the trigger on a quarterback. This was mainly the belief because both teams traded out of their picks at 10th overall and 12th overall.

That didn’t happen though. The Buffalo Bills took Tre’Davious White, a talented cornerback from LSU while the Cleveland Browns shook up the draft, in a positive way, for once. They ended up with three first round picks and didn’t force their hand on a quarterback in the first round.

Surprising? Absolutely, but they now own the 52nd overall pick in the 2nd round and the 65th overall pick in the 3rd round.

Go ahead and mark this as my bold prediction for the night: Brad Kaaya will be the Browns’ 65th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Kaaya is one of the second tier quarterbacks in this class. He’s viewed as an average quarterback with the tools to be a starter in this league. He ran a pro-style offense at Miami (FL) and was a three-year starter.

In the pocket, Kaaya looks comfortable and has a natural throwing motion. He needs to fix his footwork from a mechanics standpoint but overall, the upside his there. Pairing him with his former teammate, Daivd Njoku, could pay off big time for the Cleveland Browns.

Who will be the first quarterback taken tonight? The Green Bay Packers are being rumored to DeShone Kizer with the 33rd overall pick. I believe that’s a smokescreen for a team like the San Francisco 49ers to move up and grab him. Whatever happens on the trade front, DeShone Kizer should be the first quarterback taken in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He’s got great arm strength and is a big-bodied quarterback that coaches love.

For the second time in four years, the New York Jets own the 39th overall pick in the second round. Much like the 2013 NFL Draft, the expectation is for them to draft a quarterback. However, they’re not being linked to DeShone Kizer but to, Davis Webb. They did a lot of extensive work on him and he’d be an ideal fit for their quarterback dilemma.

Webb has a natural throwing motion and can really sling it. He needs to make some adjustments to where he places the ball but he has the upside to be a starter in this league. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s the first quarterback taken tonight but I’m expecting him to be the second taken.

More from NFL Mocks

Nathan Paterman is the underrated quarterback that I covered in my first ever post. He’s got tremendous upside and for all the right reasons. He can run a pro-style offense, has the pocket mobility you see out of plenty of starting quarterbacks and he’s grinder.

There’s definitely some resemblance to Kirk Cousins or Alex Smith, within his tape. He doesn’t have elite arm strength but he manages the game well and seems to have a good football IQ. I’d think he’d be a fit for the Jacksonville Jaguars or Buffalo Bills, at any point in this draft.

Every year, there’s so much intrigue with the quarterbacks. In the first round, we saw three quarterbacks taken. Tonight, we can see as many as five quarterbacks taken. It’s Friday night and I’m positive all of our teams will make a head scratching selection. Enjoy the second day of the draft and don’t forget to follow us along on our LIVE draft tracker, all weekend!
