NFL Draft Rumor: Tampa Bay Attempting to Trade Back

NFL Draft rumors are swirling, and the latest links Tampa Bay as a team willing to trade out of the first round

Every NFL Draft has first round trades as teams attempt to trade up for their favorite player, and this year will be no different.

Because this years draft is expected to be extremely deep the chances a team trades up are lower than years past.

With just hours before the NFL Draft kicks off in Philadelphia the NFL Draft rumor mill is picking up steam. Early Wednesday morning ESPN’s football insider Adam Schefter reported the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are interested in trading out.

Tampa Bay holds the 19th overall pick, and has filled several holes in the NFL offseason. DeSean Jackson, Chris Baker, and J.J. Wilcox have been major additions and the Buccaneers are on the verge of a playoff run with Jameis Winston.

Running backs such as Dalvin Cook have been connected to Tampa Bay, whose starter Doug Martin has fallen out of favor and is suspended for the first four games of the year.

Tampa Bay’s pick could be the landing spot for a franchise wanting a quarterback, such as Houston or Kansas City.

According to the Jimmy Johnson trade chart the 19th overall pick is worth 875 “points” and a team such as the Chiefs or Houston would be worth at least a second round pick.

If the Buccaneers want to trade out of the first round completely that could signal Cleveland or San Francisco wanting to pay big to jump in. That price would be astronomical but knowing Cleveland they’ll pay the price to win.
